SUMMARY
The project restored and strengthened the historic 1895 Canton Town Bridge, increasing its load capacity from 12.6 to 36 tons while preserving its historic appearance. Hundreds of structural steel components were dismantled, rehabilitated, and reinstalled.
Key Challenges
The project required careful removal and reinstallation of the century-old truss using engineered crane picks, while overcoming limited work space, tight access, heavy lifts, and coating compatibility issues between different metal materials.
